Dave Shackelford is a graduate of Biola University and Talbot Seminary. He served as an associate pastor for 30 years before assuming his current leadership responsibilities. He is a resilient team leader who likes to encourage and motivate people. Dave has two daughters, and his wife Kerry has two sons.
Brian Robison
Whispering Pines Retreat Center Director
Brian Robison is a graduate of Modesto Junior College with an Associates Degree in Pre-Physical Therapy. He pursued a Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy at Fresno State University prior to taking a different career path and being permanently disabled in an auto accident in 1974. After being certified in Radiology, Brian later transferred to Doctors Medical Center in 1991. Since January 2004, Brian and his wife Laura have supervised and lived year-round at our Whispering Pines Conference and Retreat Center. They have two adult children, Eric and April, daughter-in-law Colette, and two grandchildren.
Mike Cobleigh
Director of Development
Mike Cobleigh works as our Director of Development, and as a licensed Real Estate Appraiser. He is a respected community leader and local businessman with years of experience working as a Restaurant Manager, District Supervisor, and Restaurant Owner. He has also worked as the Assistant General Manager of the Modesto A's (now the Nuts!) and the Stockton Ports baseball teams. Mike and his wife Kim have two children, Noah and Leah.
Karen Gwynn
Office Manager
Karen Gwynn is a graduate of North Hennepin Junior College. After working for 10 years in Children’s Ministries at a large church, Karen was hired by Christian Berets in 1995 as a receptionist and later promoted to Office Manager at the Modesto office. Since 2001, she has worked as Office Manager. Karen and her husband Steve have three adult children and three grandsons.
Sam Mellor
Summer Camps Director
Sam Mellor is a collegian working on degrees in theatre and ministry. He has been actively involved with Christian Berets since 2001 when he first became a Summer Camps counselor. Sam served in our camp ministry for nine years as a counselor and lead counselor before becoming the Summer Camps Director in 2009. He is a dynamic leader who focuses on teamwork, patience, adaptability, and learning.
Anthony Lopez
Summer Camps Associate Director
Anthony Lopez is a collegian working on a degree in early childhood education. He works fulltime with special needs children (specifically children with autism) as a teacher’s assistant. Anthony was born and raised in San Jose, and moved to Modesto in 2001. He’s thankful for his amazing parents who just celebrated their 31st anniversary, and his older brother and younger sister. Anthony worships and serves at Big Valley Grace Community Church. He joined our ministry team in 2010 as an enthusiastic leader who influences and encourages others to grow, serve, and excel.
Brice Ringsby
Ministry Volunteer
Brice Ringsby is a graduate of Sacramento State University with a Bachelors Degree in Art. He taught at Ripon Christian School for 15 years, directed church camps for 20 years, and served as Program Director at Christian Berets for 13 years. Today, Brice volunteers with his wife Sandy. Together, they teach a weekly Bible study, coordinate two monthly clubs, and direct the Joy Sounds Choir for people with special needs.
